A Personal Message from Thor Drake

Hey, Thor here...

It's funny to me that I'm the guy who puts on this One Motorcycle Show. It started because I wanted to build motorcycles. There wasn't a show to host my bikes, so naturally, I built a show to put the motorcycles in. The truth is, I wasn't that great at building motorcycles when I started, just like I wasn't that great at putting together shows when I started. But I had an idea, and over the last 15 years, I have had a lot of great lessons, leading me to become much better at hosting the shows.

We originally had only planned on doing 10 years, but after 10 years, we kind of found our stride. The motivation to build is bigger than it ever has been, both with bikes and events.

Here is the thing most people don't realize: I still just want to be part of the show. I want to build motorcycles, paint helmets, go race, and party with all the friends. I do some of this at each event because it's important to me to see the show through the eyes of an attendee. It makes my life infinitely more complicated because I'm juggling a lot of moving parts leading up to the show, and adding projects to my mountain of stress and deadlines seems counterproductive.

What fun is work with no passion? My point is, the show comes from a humble place. We want to enjoy motorcycles and all the hard work that comes along the way because it starts with the FUN spark and should continue with a sequence of hard work that works.

It's like a river; we are just trying to provide a movement where everyone can come together and take part. The river isn't selfish; it's a force, a movement. Strong when there is more water, and it looks for the path of least resistance. I say this because as the show evolves, I'm always trying to create a balance of sustainability and growth. Every single part of the show helps that balance.

Thank you for being part of the show and for celebrating our 15-year anniversary with us. Now it is time to take a breather and start planning for what comes next... Year 16?

Let's keep this river flowing.
